General Characteristics of AR 500 Steel Plates
TITUS AR 500 Steel Plates are heat treated and intended for severe wear applications requiring a high degree of abrasion resistance.
Originally developed for extreme wear applications including ballistics, the Titus AR 500 steel plates combine a high carbon level with Titus&#;s proven manganese, chrome/nickel chemistry to produce a steel with up to ten times the wear resistance of ordinary steel.
AR 500 Steel Plates: Heat Treated for Higher Hardness Rating
Titus AR 500 steel plates are heat treated to provide a Brinell hardness range of 477 to 534 with a typical Brinell hardness of 514. Abrasion resistance for the AR500 steel plates is typically 5:1 compared to mild steels.

Specifically designed for abrasion and wear resistance, AR500 steel is a high-carbon alloy steel with a lower hardness of 477 &#; 534 BHN. The grade for abrasion resistant steel is determined on hardness instead of grain structure. Widely used for high abrasion applications where durability is a critical factor, AR500 is the preferred choice for cladding, flooring, and equipment housings across the industrial landscape. Especially useful for applications where impact and sliding forces are frequent, AR500 is recommended for liners in mining operations, and material handling equipment like dump trucks, material transfer chutes, storage bins, buckets, and hoppers.
