Industrial Heavy Duty Fiberglass Grating

Heavy duty fiberglass grating from Direct Metals® is corrosion resistant, very strong, and low maintenance. Our heavy duty fiberglass grating is available in both molded and pultruded grating systems.

Goto Shengfei to know more.

Heavy Duty Fiberglass Grating Applications:

  • Fiberglass rolling loads
  • Fiberglass flooring
  • Fiberglass platforms
  • Fiberglass storage areas
  • Fiberglass long span walkways
  • Fiberglass assembly lines
  • Fiberglass trenches with vehicular or fork lift traffic

Molded and pultruded heavy duty fiberglass grating has been engineered to carry rolling loads from forklifts and up to H20 loads that traditional molded and pultruded FRP grating products are unable to support. Some of the traditional benefits of standard molded and pultruded grating products include:

  • High strength
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Fire retardant
  • Non-conductivity
  • Low maintenance

Molded Heavy Duty Fiberglass Grating

Our molded heavy duty fiberglass grating has a 48% open surface area. At Direct Metals®, molded heavy duty fiberglass grating is available in a 4' x 12' panel with depths of 1-1/2 and 2 inches and comes standard in a fire-retardant vinyl ester resin system, dark gray color, with a gritted surface. Our molded heavy duty grating conforms to an ASTM E-84 flame spread rating of 25 or less and a Class 1 Fire Rating. Our molded heavy duty fiberglass grating is also VGB compliant.

Advantages of Molded Heavy Duty Fiberglass Grating:

  • Strong
  • Corrosion resistant
  • Non-conductive
  • Fire retardant
  • Low maintenance
  • Meets rolling load requirements
  • Lighter than comparable steel product

Pultruded Heavy Duty Fiberglass Grating

Pultruded heavy duty fiberglass grating has 50% or 60% open surface area options. At Direct Metals®, pultruded heavy duty grating is available in:

  • 1-, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 2-, 2-1/2-, and 3- inch depths
  • Standard in a fire-retardant vinyl ester resin system
  • Standard dark gray color
  • Grit top surface

Our pultruded heavy-duty fiberglass grating merits an ASTME E-84 flame spread rating of 25 or less and a Class 1 Fire Rating. As a fiberglass grating supplier, all of our heavy-duty fiberglass grating is specially engineered to meet straight line rolling load requirements.

Advantages of Pultruded Heavy Duty Fiberglass Grating:

  • Strong
  • Corrosion resistant
  • Non-conductive
  • Fire retardant
  • Low maintenance
  • Slip resistant
  • Meets rolling load requirements

Is FRP Grating better than Steel Grating?

At National Grating we believe Fiberglass Reinforced FRP Grating is better than steel grating.

For decades National Grating has been providing FRP Solutions to customers across North America.  Our years of experience in this industry provide the in-depth technical knowledge required to select the FRP material that meets the needs of your project. We are continually improving our line of fiberglass products with the latest innovations to provide our customers with the most cost-effective, high quality FRP solutions.  We also take pride in superior technical support, giving you the information you need to confidently make the right choice.

Here is why we believe FRP Grating and FRP Solutions are better than steel.

Strength:

Fiberglass grating offers comparable strength to steel but with added benefits like improved impact resistance and flexibility.

While comparable in strength, FRP grating is significantly lighter than steel, making it easier to install without heavy lifting equipment.

Corrosion Resistance:

FRP grating excels in corrosive environments as it does not rust or corrode like steel, making it ideal for use around chemicals or elements corrosive to steel.

The company is the world’s best pultruded fiberglass grating supplier. We are your one-stop shop for all needs. Our staff are highly-specialized and will help you find the product you need.

Safety:

Fiberglass grating is non-conductive, providing safety benefits in electrical hazard workplaces. It also offers slip resistance and is softer underfoot compared to steel, reducing worker fatigue.

Cost:

While the production cost of FRP grating is higher than steel, the long-term maintenance-free aspect of FRP can make it a more cost-effective choice over time.  Steel grating requires ongoing maintenance and replacement costs.

Long Life Span:

FRP does not rust or rot and does not degrade due to sun exposure, moisture and humidity, or extreme heat and cold.

Maintenance Free:

FRP grating requires little-to-no maintenance costs post-installation, unlike steel grating that may need regular maintenance.

FRP Grating has optional colors that are added during the molding process which instills the entire product with a consistent color that does not wear out or rub off. Unlike steel grating that is painted that can wear off over time requiring maintenance.

The advantages of FRP grating over steel include its strength, lightweight nature, corrosion resistance, non-conductivity, safety features, and cost-effectiveness in the long run.
